    Select Physical Therapy's Jim Porter to Present at Wrestling Sports Medicine Symposium During 2016 USA Wrestling Olympic Trials
    Las Vegas, NV:Select Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that Jim Porter, M.A., LAT, ATC, will be presenting at the Wrestling Sports Medicine Symposium at the 2016 USA Wrestling Olympic Trials. His topic will be on techniques to control bleeding during competition.

    The Wrestling Sports Medicine Symposium is being hosted by the University of Iowa on April 8 at Carver Hawkeye Arena. It is a multidisciplinary symposium that brings together some of the best wrestling medical professionals in the United States who will be presenting on the best practices for health care and sport performance of high school, collegiate and International wrestlers.

    Mr. Porter will be one of six health care professionals presenting at the event and will sit on two roundtable discussions dealing with injuries in the sport of wrestling. After the symposium, Mr. Porter will be providing mat-side athletic training care to participants during the competition. This is his ninth straight USA Wrestling Olympic Trials in which he has worked as a mat-side medical provider.

    Mr. Porter is the area sports medicine coordinator for Select Physical Therapy in Las Vegas. He oversees daily athletic training services to 35 high schools in the community and attends more than 200 sporting events each year. He has been part of the USA Wrestling Medical Pool since 1981 and has worked 19 World Championships, including serving as medical coordinator for the 2003 New York World Championships and 2016 Las Vegas World Championships. Mr. Porter was awarded a Gold Star from the International Governing Body of Wrestling in 2012 for his involvement. He is the only athletic trainer in the world who has been awarded the Gold Star.
